Neuroaffirming Counselling and Psychotherapy
Welcome
Therapy is a place to get support in feeling better, in whatever way that makes sense for you. You know your life and your experiences better than anyone. My role is to bring my training and experience to help you make sense of what’s going on and move toward the changes you want.
Together, we’ll explore the connections between your thoughts, feelings, and behaviours, with the aim of making it easier to be you. I work in a strongly neuroaffirming way, which means I respect and work with the way your brain naturally processes the world. For neurodivergent people, this often involves understanding what is genuinely part of who you are, what supports your wellbeing, and how to shape your life and environment so they work with your needs rather than against them.
My approach is sensitive and thoughtful, giving you space to be yourself while we work toward what you want to change.
About me
While therapy focuses on your own experience, it can be helpful to know something about the person you choose to work with. Here I hope to give you a sense of who I am, to help you decide whether I might be the right therapist for you.
I’ve always been drawn to understanding people and what helps us feel well. As a teenager, I’d spend hours reading about mental health simply because it fascinated me. Once I finished school, I did a degree in Psychology with Clinical Psychology and then a Master’s in Cognitive Rehabilitation. I thought I had a clear path to becoming a psychologist. But once I started working in mental health in my early 20's, things fell apart. I was anxious, burnt out, and relying on coping strategies that weren’t helping me. I wanted to feel better, but I didn't know how to. Having a theoretical background alone wasn't enough - I needed to learn more about myself.
Two turning points allowed for the far more grounded, balanced, and well person I am today. One was discovering I’m autistic at the age of 30 (and more recently, ADHD too). Learning about this, and exploring it fully in therapy, reframed a lifetime of feeling "wrong". It helped me understand myself with a level of clarity and compassion I hadn’t had before. I learned what I need to stay well and why those needs matter. It was an absolute revelation.
The other turning point was finding Transactional Analysis (TA), the type of therapy I use today. TA gave me an incredible framework that made sense of my inner world, other people’s, and the dynamics that happen between us. It offered a clearer, more workable way of navigating life - one that actually felt liveable. Through my own TA therapy and advanced clinical training, I found a path forward that was radically kinder and far more aligned with who I am.
I feel much better now, with a solid foundation for my wellbeing. Through all this I get to live a life that works for me. It is now important that I pass on this gift to people who also want to feel better in themselves and in their relationships. It is a privilege to help people understand themselves more clearly and make changes that genuinely improve their lives.
